The citizens vote for the names and after the final verdict is made, the turkeys are pardoned and kept alive.
4. What happens after Thanksgiving
After the last Thursday of November, the day on which people celebrate Thanksgiving, they enjoy the so-called ‘Black Friday’. The name to this day was given in 1960. It is said that Philadelphia back then was a famous shopping area and people from other states came to purchase stuff. There were thousands of people in the city. Most of the stores and supermarket were overcrowded with people and shops made profits from the red to the black. Nowadays the day after Thanksgiving is considered to be the beginning of a new shopping season.

Statistics show that almost 50 million turkeys are eaten during Thanksgiving every year. This research covers the United States only. Just imagine how much money people spend on this food! It costs more than 5 billion US dollars to make the celebration perfect by including turkey in the menu.
