People cannot always tell if what they feel is real love or attachment. Luckily, there are a few differences that might help you to figure that out. If you think you are in deep love at the moment, analyze your emotions and feelings a bit deeper and make sure that your relationship is based on true love.
1. There is no place for selfishness if it’s true love
Selfish love does not exist. This might be called any other word, but definitely not true love. However, it is not that rare to see selfish people who feel attached to each other. They keep arguing and fighting over meaningless things. Usually they blame each other and each justifies his or her actions only. Manipulation and domination are not typical of true love.
2. Liberated or controlled
We believe that love is liberating. On the other hand, attachment is controlling. Mutually loving people allow each other to be their true selves. If you are loved, you will be encouraged by your partner to be who and what you really are. Attachment makes the couple to control each other. Sooner or later it brings discomfort and people realize that they coexist in an unhealthy bond. Accept your partner and feel accepted by your significant one – this is one of the differences between attachment and true love.
