5. Surrogate mothers have no legal rights to the child they birth
Gestational surrogacy means that the woman who gives birth to a child has no genetic bond to the baby. Before pregnancy it is strongly advised to make sure that all proper legal documentation is in place. If this part of the process is not done the right way, then the woman doesn’t have any legal rights to the baby. You do not need to sign any adoption contracts or documents. In the hospital the intended parents will be treated as birth parents. However, the surrogate mother will be supervised and treated as a surgical patient.
