5. You drink alcohol before bed
You might think that one or two glasses of wine before bedtime is a smart way to relax. However, it has more disadvantages than you might think. Alcohol produces sedative effect by depressing the central nervous system. Of course, alcohol creates a backfire effect and sabotages sleeping patterns. People who drink alcohol before falling asleep usually wake up in the middle of the night, have disturbing dreams and wake up feeling bad. Do not consume alcohol 3-4 hours before bedtime.
6. You use gadgets at bedtime
Remember that your bed is not the right place to do check e-mails or read electronic books. The light of your computer, tablet or smartphone makes a negative impact on the quality of your sleep. You might not feel it, but all people are sensitive to all the glare and glow that comes from electronic gadgets. Technology suppresses your body rhythms by reducing the production of melatonin – one of the hormones that help us regulate wake and sleep cycles. Put aside your device and learn to relax in total peace and quiet.
