3. Hummus or bean dip
Beans are rich in protein. We do need this source of protein. Nevertheless, one should bear in mind that prepackaged bean dips and hummus usually contain too much added oils. These products are also prone to molding. If you prepare your own beans and soak them before cooking, then it’s great. If not, then you increase the risk of eating mold! As we know, mold reduces oxygen consumption plus causes inflammation. This is the main reason why professional sportsmen avoid prepackaged dips. Instead of hummus and bean dip we suggest you should consume low-fat cottage cheese. This food is also rich in protein, light, contains no oil or salt and is quite satisfying.
4. Whole grain breads and muffins
Whole-grain foods are not advised if you are planning to go to the gym. They are great after your work out session, not before. Whole-grain versions of regular foods contain gluten, mold and yeast. All of these three compounds cause inflammation. Avoid them and you will not suffer from gas and bloating while exercising. It’s true that whole grain breads provide you with energy, but this happens only due to high amount of carbs that they contain. Although you feel energetic after eating your whole-grain muffin, the carbs that it contains will prevent you from losing pounds.
