3. Sodium
Whatever we eat contains too much salt. If you do not prepare food at home and prefer to save time and buy ready-to-eat dishes, we guarantee you that you’ll find tons of salt in those products. Most kids eat a lot of sodium. Too much of this element can be found in breads, pizzas and other snacks that you order in cafeterias and restaurants. Limit the amount of salty snacks that your kids eat. Replace them with healthier options and start cooking your own meals. You can also learn to whip up healthy snacks for your children at home.
4. Allergens
Millions of people all around the globe are allergic to some types of foods. Even healthy foods can cause various undesirable reactions. Just imagine how many allergies snacks can cause! They are full of additives, artificial colors and flavors, chemicals and other ingredients that can be harmful. Your children should not consume snacks that are rich in wheat, soy or corn.
5. Misleading information
Do not trust advertisements and commercials. We know that packages are colorful and attractive and sometimes it’s too hard to resist new snacks that keep popping up on the shelves. The difference is sometimes ridiculous – most of what you see in your local store is not good for you or your children. Do not buy the snack unless you read the nutrition label. Find out the ratio of fats, proteins and carbs that your kid needs. Make sure the snack is not too high in calories – you do not want your child to suffer from obesity later on. Make healthy food choices and give your children foods that are full of vitamins and minerals, such as vegetables and fruits.
