3. Vegetables: fresh mixed greens, cucumbers, and tomatoes
Most of us know that vegetables are healthy and the more vegetables we eat, the healthier we become. However, some still believe that fresh vegetables are rather expensive. Buying lots of veggies at a time is a waste of money since fresh vegetables turn fast and all you can do is to discard them. We advise you should buy only three types of vegetables in one shopping trip. Try and buy mixed greens. Although whole produce costs less, you are more likely to consume the mixed ones since they save your time and do not require any special preparation. Use your favorite oil and seasoning only. Another good thing is that mixed greens are often discounted since their shelf life is pretty short.
4. Bananas
On average, we pay just one buck for two bananas. This makes bananas affordable. They are also convenient and you can take them to work or school just in case you feel hungry and need a snack.
5. Oatmeal
One of the cheapest breakfast foods is oats. There’re plenty of brands. Pick the ones that have “organic” on the label. Oatmeal is nourishing and contains lots of fiber to keep you full for long.
